Treating IBS

What Is Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy?

GDH is a treatment specifically designed to help treat the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.

Prof Peter Whorwell Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Manchester in the UK and directs a unit with a wide ranging research programme into the clinical, epidemiological and pathophysiological aspects of functional gastrointestinal disorders.  Prof Peter Whorwell found when he treated his patience with hypnotherapy to help them relax had surprising results and his patient symptoms improved up to 70%.

Prof Whorwell undertook research trials to confirm his findings. His results not only showed an improvement in patient colonic symptoms but also that it helps with anxiety, depression, and their overall quality of life.

What Does The Treatment Involve?

The treatment program consists of  6 weekly hypnotherapy sessions.

Hypnotherapy targets the source of the problem which is the oversensitive nerves in the gut.

Hypnotherapy helps retrain the gut-brain connection to help reduce the misfiring nerves before they reach the brain.

I will introduce you to hypnotherapy, what it is and how it will help and answer any question you may have.

We will spend time talking about IBS, how it affects you, what helps, and your expectations of having hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is very client-focused so this is very important to me.

We will talk about the gut-brain connection.

I will teach you breathing exercises and self-hypnosis.

We will end the session with trance, and my hope is for you to leave my therapy room feeling relaxed and hopeful for your future.

Session one 1 1/2 hours £80

Future Sessions 1-hour £60
